This thesis explores Cree and Metis Elders' teachings about traditional child rearing practices and investigates the use of storytelling as a mechanism for facilitating the transfer of this culturally-based knowledge. The research identifies 13 traditional parenting teachings and makes 54 recommendations for reviving these teachings and practices in contemporary contexts.
