First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada
The authors draw primarily on Indigenous scholarship to examine literature that supports the argument that Indigenous led and delivered child and family services can effectively foster cultural connectedness and positive Indigenous identity. Specifically, they describe key features of Indigenous cultures and knowledges and how they are transmitted, preserved, and promoted through cultural connectedness; explain why culturally based child and family services are important for Indigenous children and their communities; and offer examples of community-based and culturally adapted child and family service programs and initiatives.
