Description

In this article, the authors advocate for a shift in how cultural competence is conceptualized in psychotherapeutic interventions, from culturally competent therapists to culturally commensurate therapies. The authors offer two examples from Indigenous communities in North America to illustrate a continuum of cultural commensurability.
