Description

This document sets out standards for cultural competence in social work practice grounded in the ethics and values of the social work profession. The document aims to inform social workers and others on best practice standards for social work practice with diverse cultures; increase awareness of practice considerations, ethical responsibilities and continuing professional education guidelines for fostering culturally competent practice; provide a framework for reflecting on and enhancing skills, knowledge and abilities of social workers to work with individuals, families, groups and communities from diverse cultures; acknowledge the role of social workers in engaging and partnering with diverse cultures and promoting social justice; and promote cultural competence as an integral part of social work practice.
