The impact of poverty on First Nations mothers attending a parenting program

2007

Harris, B., Russell, M., & Gockel, A.

Description

This article highlights findings from a study assessing urban Indigenous mothers' experiences with Family Preservation Services. The authors argue that while such interventions help ameliorate the challenges mothers face, they do not adequately address poverty, leading to compromises that can perpetuate the risk of coming to the attention of child welfare.
