Description

This article presents a case study of a Native American adolescent who is suffering from mental distress, possible substance use, and multiple traumas. The author argues that trauma-informed therapies are needed in current psychiatric and primary care practices in the Indian Health Service and that a trauma-informed approach is central to motivating patient-centered care.
