Description

This article presents findings from a study examining the effect of water distribution systems on the types and concentrations of trihalomethanes and related water quality parameters in three First Nations reserves in Manitoba, comparing homes that had water piped from a water treatment plan with homes that were equipped with cisterns filled by water trucks. The study found that the majority of homes, regardless of where the water came from, had concentrations of trihalomethanes that exceeded Health Canada's maximum acceptable concentration.
