Drawing on quantitative and qualitative data, this study examined facilitators and barriers to healthy weight gain in pregnancy for First Nations women in one prairie reserve. The study highlighted the importance of considering women's social, community and economic contexts in health promotion and diabetes prevention initiatives during prenatal care.
