This study uses ecological and human exposure assessment methods to enhance understanding about the levels of mercury that Aamjiwnaang First Nations members are exposed to as a result of being located in Canada's 'Chemical Valley', and the impact that mercury exposure has had on their health. Methods include an investigation of mercury releases from area facilities, measurement of mercury levels in stream sediment and nearby soil from sites at Aamjiwnaang and off reserve, and a biomonitoring study on 43 mother-child pairs to determine blood mercury levels.
