The author presents research findings from a case study that explores how a mismatch between research purpose and local outcomes can undermine the credibility of Indigenous environmental health practitioners within their communities. He advocates for the development of new research norms and protocols that support the work of local Indigenous practitioners in community environmental health practice rather than undermine their work.
