Dietary Exposure to Chemical Contaminants from Traditional Food among Adult Dene/Métis in the Western Northwest Territories, Canada

1998

Berti, P.R., Receveur, O., Chan, H.M., & Kuhnlein, H.V.

Description

The authors combine data on the presence of selected organochlorines and heavy metals in traditional foods with dietary data from Dene/Métis adults living in the Denendeh region of the Northwest Territories to assess their dietary exposure to these contaminants. They determine that dietary exposure to chemical contaminants among this population is generally low, though there may be some days when exposure to specific contaminants may approach tolerable daily intake levels.
