Indigenous cultural safety - An environmental scan of cultural safety initiatives in Canada - Chapter 9 - Cultural safety initiatives in New Brunswick

May 2025

Chapter 9 of the NCCIH’s Indigenous cultural safety: An environmental scan of cultural safety initiatives in Canada identifies cultural safety initiatives and resources developed and implemented in New Brunswick. This includes initiatives undertaken by the provincial government and its various departments and agencies, provincial health organizations, professional organizations, Indigenous organizations, and other organizations with a health mandate operating in the province.

Among the notable cultural safety initiatives in the province are relationship building agreements, health policy responses and initiatives to address racism, advance reconciliation, and embed principles of cultural safety, Indigenous health programs and services, and efforts to build a culturally competent workforce. Cultural safety initiatives developed or implemented by professional organizations, Indigenous organizations, and other organizations with a health mandate are limited.

Note to reader: While all resources in the Indigenous cultural safety chapters were freely accessible on the Internet when they were included, the NCCIH assumes no responsibility for any links that are broken or changes in free access. The resources listed are, in large part, resources that are external to the NCCIH. They are intended for general information only on an "as is" and “as available” basis.
