This resource is one of a series of six Healthy Aging booklets for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis adults (aged 18 to 49 years) and older adults (aged 50+ years) in Canada. It was developed in response to requests from Indigenous families and community partners for culturally relevant resources to support the health and well-being of First Nations people, Inuit, and Métis people throughout the aging process.
This booklet shows how taking care of your mental and emotional health can boost your overall health and quality of life. This includes learning about intergenerational trauma, coping with intergenerational grief and loss, and managing stress and anxiety. It also involves keeping land-based connections and staying socially connected and engaged.
