This resource is one of a series of six Healthy Aging booklets for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis adults (aged 18 to 49 years) and older adults (aged 50+ years) in Canada. It was developed in response to requests from Indigenous families and community partners for culturally relevant resources to support the health and well-being of First Nations people, Inuit, and Métis people throughout the aging process.
This booklet discusses how taking care of your mind, body, and spirit through physical activity and exercise will boost your overall health and quality of life. This includes learning about the importance of staying physically active and getting enough physical activity. It also involves choosing the right physical activities, particularly for preventing frailty, strengthening brain activity, and keeping a healthy body weight.
